Accessibility

We have designed and built our website to make the content as easy to use for as many people as possible, regardless of any impairment or disability that they may have. Although we have taken steps to make this site accessible we would still welcome your comments on how we can improve it. You can give us feedback by sending an email to [email protected].

Text size

The initial text sizes of this site are designed to be clear and readable for a wide audience whilst making use of available screen space. The text is scalable using the "Change text size" bar at the top of each page or alternatively use your browser controls to increase or decrease the font size. In Internet Explorer and Firefox this option is under the View menu on the toolbar.

Screen readers

Our website works with the Browsealoud service and is fully compliant with screen readers such as JAWS.

Standards compliance

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an organisation that employs experts who know how to make websites more accessible or easier to use. The W3C experts have written a number of standards or guides to help website developers ensure that the sites they are building are accessible to as many people as possible. The pages on this website have been built to AA standard, complying with all priority one and two guidelines of the W3C web content accessibility guidelines.

Website Design

We keep all pages simply - they are written in plain English.  The website has a consistent layout - main menus are at the top, sub menus are on the left and other information is at the bottom.  We use HTML as the default information form and all our HTML pages validate against version "4.01 Transitional" HTML.  We keep the use of images to a minimum - they should all have "alt" descriptions which should be meaningful.

Language Translations

All pages can be translated into the following languages using the tool at the top of the page: Urdu, Hindi, Polish, Chinese, French and Arabic.  These translations are provided using the Google Translate tool.
