Visits
Exciting, interactive visits are currently offered at two centres, one in Bolton at the Thermal Recovery Facility and one at Pilsworth in Bury at a landfill site.
Visits are free of charge to formal education and community groups in Greater Manchester.
The visit can be structured around your timetable / individual group needs.
A typical visit will include a site tour of the facility along with one or more activities in the education centre.
Options may include:
This would include a site tour plus a full programme of waste awareness activities in the education centre. Groups would be expected to provide their own packed lunch but have access to the education centre facilities as a base.

Site tours only
A simple tour of the facility typically lasts between 30 – 60 minutes.
Please be aware that larger groups / school parties may need to be split on site to comply with maximum allowable numbers in specific areas. In these instances, one group will typically be participating in an activity in the education centre whilst the other group are on site. The groups will then swap around.
It is expected that you will be responsible for your own transport to and from the site. Please be aware that at Pilsworth your transport will need to remain with you for at least the first hour and a half to transfer you between the education centre and the landfill site.
