Slim your Bin

Are you really putting the right things in the right bin? This activity explores what you should be doing in your local area. It is important that we put the correct items in the correct container to ensure they can be processed and for recycling.

The purpose of this activity is  to  show which items should go in which container and to introduce various additional or alternative solutions. Is there something else we could do with them? Could someone else use them? Or if your local council does not collect them from your home could you take them somewhere else?

This is an exciting activity in which the players quickly learn to slim their bin and minimise the amount of waste going to landfill or incineration.

Ages
This activity is suitable for anyone from school year 3 (Age 7-8) and above.

How to make up the activity
Print the instructions and answers on A4 paper.
For each group you need to print: 1 set of bins / or containers, 1 set of sorting cards and 1 set of extension cards. We recommend that you laminate the sheets.
Cut the sorting cards out after laminating.
