Love Food Hate Waste
How much food do we really throw away?
This activity is based on the findings of WRAP’s Love Food Hate Waste study, which highlighted the top 100 food items we throw away unnecessarily. This is not out of date food, or food thrown away by factories or supermarkets, but avoidable food thrown out by households. This really emphasises how wasteful we are and explores what makes us buy more than we need, what we can do to avoid this and what we can do with leftovers to prevent wasting food.
The activity is based on the higher OR lower card game. Participants try to place 14 popular food items in order of the amounts wasted.
Ages
This activity is suitable for anyone from school year 3 (Age 7-8) and above.
How to make up the activity
Print the activity cards double sided on A4 paper (flip on long edge).
Laminate the cards for durability and ease of use.
