Across Greater Manchester we will utilise a range of technologies, including Mechanical Biological Treatment with Anaerobic Digestion, a Materials Recovery Facility, In Vessel Composting, Transfer Loading Stations, Green Waste Shredding Facilities and the continued use of the Thermal Recover Facility and Combined Heat and Power to treat various types of waste. These processes will work alongside a network of state-of-the-art Household Waste Recycling Centres.

These improvements are to be made to existing sites and will provide a recycling and waste service which is easier to use, allows better working conditions for waste operatives, and certainty for Greater Manchester’s waste disposal for the next 25 years.
