Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)
The Household Waste Recycling Centre has been replaced with a new modernised facility which opened in June 2009. The new HWRC has been built on land formerly used for landfill and is a split level facility which better accommodates the needs of the surrounding area by providing a more convenient site layout; better traffic management to eliminate queuing off-site; and separate access for operational vehicles and private cars, to increase safety. These improvements will reduce waiting times and provide a more comprehensive recycling service for local residents.
NEW Re-use service
Lumns Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) now accepts donations of unwanted furniture for re-use. This is a 6 month pilot delivered in partnership with CT New to You to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of such a scheme.
