The existing facility comprises of the Thermal Recovery Facility (TRF) and a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC).

We have constructed a new HWRC facility to replace the one that you currently use at the Raikes Lane depot.
The new HWRC will OPEN from Thursday 9th September 2010 and from this date the old facility will close.

This will allow the further works to commence on the existing Raikes Lane site. A new Transfer Loading Station (TLS) will be built at the exisitng Raikes Lane site to support Bolton’s recycling schemes. The modern facility will receive both recyclable and non recyclable waste from local collections, ready to be sent for reprocessing.
The existing Thermal Recovery Facility (TRF) will continue to operate with ongoing maintenance and improvements as necessary.

To enable these works to be undertaken safely the whole facility and its services will experience some disruption and services to trade customer and high sided vehicles will be unavailable for some time.

From Thursday 9th September 2010 trade customers and members of the public with high sided vehicles will be directed to alternative facilities. Works will be ongoing until summer 2011.

During the disruption facilities at the following Transfer Stations will be available for you to use:
