What Can I Recycle And Where?
What Happens to my Recycling?

Bayley Street, Tameside

updated 29/06/10

Construction work is ongoing at the Bayley Street facility. A Transfer Loading Station is being built and a phased approach is being taken to keep the old facilities open whilst the new ones are being built.

The Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) remains open, during this time. Opening times are detailed below.

A new and enlarged Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) has been built. The new facility opened in Autumn 2009 and enables waste to be efficiently separated on site and a recycling level of up to 60% to be achieved.

A new Transfer Loading Station (TLS) is also under construction, on land in the north west of the current site. The TLS will receive and sort both recyclable and non-recyclable waste from local collections. The new TLS building will be built to the height of just nine metres, with a pitched roof to minimise visual impact.

The TLS facility will be self-contained, ensuring that loading, unloading and sorting of waste will take place within the building − with safeguards in place to prevent litter and odour.

The Household Waste Recycling Centre is open at the following times:
