Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
Check out what can I recycle and where for the full list of what you can recycle at each Household Waste Recycling Centre. The map below shows location and opening times for each centre.
Asbestos
From January 2012 we can no longer accept unwrapped asbestos, residents will need to bring any household asbestos to our facilities wrapped up in heavy duty plastic wrapping — you can use household rubble sacks that can be bought from super markets.
Asbestos can be taken to all our HWRCs apart from Blackhorse (Bolton).

Materials of the Month - January
Each month we will focus on one or two material types you can recycle at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
It's a New Year, so why not start it off right, by recycling our materials of the month - Christmas trees and Christmas cards at your local HWRC. Remember don't bin it, bring it!
HWRC User information:
- The height barrier for all HWRCs has now been increased to 2 metres. There are also facilities throughout Greater Manchester which accommodate vehicles over this height. For an explanation of why we operate a height barrier and for a list of sites which offer an alternative for vehicles over 2 metres download our policy .
- Numberplate recognition systems and site personnel will monitor site users to prevent business waste being deposited at Household Waste Recycling Centres, at a cost to the taxpayer.
- Please remember to wear appropriate footwear when visiting your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
The map below details HWRCs available in your local area.
Our HWRCs are closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.
