Every district council now has a recycling collection scheme, so if you don't already have a recycling bin, box or bag provided by your local council, visit our Recycling in Your Area page to find out more or to contact them for further information.
In addition to this we also manage a network of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). These are sites which are available to you, where you can take both large and small items to be recycled such as: garden waste, wood, metal, soil and rubble, white goods such as washing machines and fridges – you can also take your small items like newspapers and magazines, glass bottles and jars and food and drink cans.
At each of the HWRCs there are a number of containers for a variety of materials. You will be asked to separate the items you bring into the different containers so that materials can be recycled where possible.
Your district council also manages a network of smaller bring sites for your recycling such as newspapers and magazines, glass bottles and jars and food and drink cans. To find your nearest site type in your postcode in the Where can I recycle? box and details of your local recycling sites will be listed.
