Nappies

A baby will need over 4,000 nappy changes. Disposable nappies are not biodegradable and may take between 300 - 500 years to break down in landfill sites. Real nappies are a much more environmentally friendly and cost effective alternative. Visit our real nappy pages for more information.

Needle-sticks and syringes

Dispose of as per supplier's instructions, usually by sealing in container and putting in Household waste bin collection.
Please DO NOT place in any recycling container or scheme - needle-sticks or syringes cannot be recycled or reused.

Newspapers

Can be recycled in you mixed paper and card recycling container or taken to paper banks at the Household Waste Recycling Centres.
