Love Food Hate Waste is a National Recycling Awards Finalist2009 The campaign forms part of a two year campaign across the councils of Greater Manchester. It was developed to support the overall strategy of achieving and maintaining zero waste growth by 2020. LFHW in Greater Manchester is supported by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), coordinated by the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) and Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) Limited (VLGM), and delivered by all ten district councils. The campaign saw District Officers come together to support the delivery of road show events in Greater Manchester; taking turns to man LFHW stalls in Manchester City as well as their own Districts. As a result, the campaign was very much a Greater Manchester success with all districts coming together to provide consistency in message and tone. The partnership provided the campaign with access to a much larger audience; an audience interested in food and therefore more likely to make a change with regards to food waste. Furthermore the partnership exemplified the messages by working towards minimising the amount of waste generated at both the launch event and the festival. We believe that this is worthy of the award for Best Partnership Project! Visit www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com to find out if we win on 15th July!! |
